Tile Countertops
If you’re remodeling your kitchen and you’re looking for countertop ideas, tile countertops are a great alternative. Choose from ceramic, porcelain and stone tiles. There also a wide variety of sink styles to select from. The tile in’ type rests below or in line with the tile surface and the self rimming’ type rests on top of the tile surface. How the tile will be set, what trim will be used and what accents used will depend on your design preferences, and the type of tile that is selected.
Glazed and unglazed ceramic tiles are used for countertops and are sturdy and durable to take heat from hot pans and other rigors of everyday use. While the tile by itself is durable, the grout between the tiles is porous and soft, and tends to stain. To keep it clean, use a toothbrush or a nailbrush to scrub dirt and grime off. Laundry bleach can be used to remove mildew that forms on the grout. don’t use harsh abrasives cleaners when you’re cleaning the grout as it might scratch and damage the tile.

I am interested in installing a solid surface counter top such as corian. I also have an island that I want to put a butcher block material on. I plan on keeping my current back splash and faucet.
